New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday urged space scientists to gear up for a deep space exploration mission aimed at unlocking secrets that could shape humanity’s future. Speaking in a video address on National Space Day, he also announced plans to establish a pool of astronauts for upcoming missions and encouraged young people to join the initiative.
“We have already reached the Moon and Mars. Now, it is time to venture into deep space, where numerous secrets that can benefit humanity await,” Modi said.
“Beyond galaxies lie endless horizons. The universe reminds us that no frontier is final, and in the space sector as well, policy should leave no frontier unexplored,” he added, addressing space scientists, students, and policymakers from across the country.
Modi highlighted India’s progress in cutting-edge technologies such as electric propulsion and semi-cryogenic engines. “Thanks to your hard work, India will soon launch the Gaganyaan mission and build its own space station,” he said.
He also challenged the private sector, asking whether five startups could achieve unicorn status in the next five years. “I would like private players to step forward… Can we reach a stage where India launches 50 rockets every year?” he asked space scientists and engineers.
