North Sound: Former Pakistan left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir on Thursday became the second Pakistani cricketer to reach 400 wickets in T20 cricket, joining fast bowler Wahab Riaz.

Amir achieved the milestone while representing Trinbago Knight Riders in the seventh match of the 2025 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua.

He claimed his 400th wicket in his 343rd T20 appearance by dismissing Fabian Allen. With this, Amir now has 400 wickets in 343 matches, trailing only Wahab Riaz, who has 413 wickets from 348 games.

Amir had announced his retirement from international cricket in December last year. He had previously retired from all forms of international cricket in 2021 but reversed his decision earlier this year, making himself available for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

The seasoned pacer’s career was marked by highs and controversies, including a five-year ban from 2010 to 2015 for spot-fixing.

Across formats, Amir played 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 62 T20Is. In Tests, he took 119 wickets at an average of 30.47, while in ODIs, he claimed 81 wickets at 29.62. In T20Is, he picked up 71 wickets at 21.94, totaling 271 international wickets in 159 matches.

Amir last represented Pakistan in the T20 World Cup, playing the final group-stage match against Ireland. He finished the tournament with seven wickets from four games.
