Dubai,: Indian pacer Mohammad Siraj has been fined 15% of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the fourth day of the third ICC World Test Championship match against England at Lord’s.

Siraj was found guilty of violating Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which pertains to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal during an International Match.”

The incident took place in the sixth over of England’s second innings when Siraj celebrated aggressively and in close proximity to opener Ben Duckett after dismissing him. As a result, one demerit point was added to Siraj’s disciplinary record—his second within a 24-month period, bringing his total to two. His previous demerit point came during the second Test against Australia in Adelaide on December 7, 2024.

Siraj accepted the charge and the sanction proposed by match referee Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel, thus avoiding a formal hearing.

The charge was laid by on-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, along with third umpire Ahsan Raza and fourth umpire Graham Lloyd.

Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct carry a minimum sanction of an official reprimand, a maximum fine of 50% of the player’s match fee, and the addition of one or two demerit points.
