Hoshiarpur: A woman and her four-year-old son from Jammu and Kashmir were killed, and two other family members injured, after their car hit a divider and rammed into a tree in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district on Wednesday, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Meera Manhas and her son Hariansh, who died on the spot near Uchi Bassi village, officials said.
According to police, Shakti Singh from Jammu and Kashmir was travelling with his wife Meera, son Hariansh, and three-year-old daughter Tamanna to pay obeisance at the Khatu Shyam temple in Rajasthan.
While driving along the Jalandhar-Pathankot National Highway, Singh reportedly lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid a stray dog. The car then hit a road divider and crashed into a roadside tree.
Shakti Singh and his daughter Tamanna sustained injuries and were admitted to the civil hospital in Dasuya, police added.
