New Delhi [India]: Several schools in the national capital received bomb threats early Monday, officials reported.
Delhi Police stated that Delhi Public School (DPS) Dwarka, Modern Convent School, and ShreeRam World School in Sector 10, Dwarka, were targeted via email.
As a precaution, the schools were evacuated immediately. Police and bomb disposal squads arrived at the sites and conducted thorough searches.
While previous bomb threats in the city turned out to be hoaxes, authorities are treating today’s alert seriously and following all safety protocols. Further details are awaited.
In July, multiple schools including Richmond Global School (Paschim Vihar), Sovereign School (Rohini Sector 24), Modern International School (Dwarka Sector 19), and Heritage School (Rohini Sector 23) had received bomb threats, prompting deployment of the Fire Department and Delhi Police.
Richmond Global School Principal Moupali Mitra said the school informed the Police Commissioner within minutes of receiving the email. The bomb squad and related teams inspected the campus thoroughly and confirmed it was safe.
“We are monitoring all communications closely. The threat email arrived at 10:52 AM, and we informed the Commissioner of Police at 10:58 AM. The bomb squad and Cyber department immediately inspected every corner of the school. It is completely safe, and all necessary measures are being taken to protect the children. Such rumors are spread by anti-social elements, and we must stand against them. The school is operating normally,” Mitra told reporters here.
Additionally, three Delhi University colleges—IP College for Women, Hindu College, and Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC)—also received bomb threats via email on July 18, police said.
