Jammu: Police on Friday destroyed narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances valued at over ₹8 crore in Jammu, following court directives.
According to officials, more than 2,953 kilograms of narcotic substances, mainly poppy, were disposed of in compliance with the Ministry of Home Affairs’ guidelines.
The seized contraband, collected from multiple criminal cases, was destroyed by the district-level drug destruction committee at the Anmol HealthCare destruction plant in Samba district.
In total, 2,954 kilograms and 671 grams of poppy were discarded, with the estimated value of the destroyed drugs standing at ₹8.0271 crore, they added.
