Srinagar: Lawmakers from the National Conference (NC) and Congress on Thursday staged a silent protest inside the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, demanding the release of AAP MLA Mehraj Malik.
The demonstration took place before the start of the Assembly proceedings to highlight the issue.
Holding placards that read “Respect the Vote, Respect the Voice, Free Mehraj Malik,” the legislators observed a brief sit-in and urged the government to secure Malik’s immediate release.
The protesting MLAs stressed that such actions are essential to uphold democratic values and protect the rights of elected representatives.
