JAMMU: In a continuing effort to bridge technology and education, the National Commission for Women (NCW), in collaboration with Future Shift Labs (FSL), organized a special YASHODA AI workshop at Central University, Jammu, today. NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar attended the event as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering, Chairperson Rahatkar emphasized that true progress is measured not only by technological advancement but by our ability to use it responsibly and purposefully. “By preparing students to engage thoughtfully with Artificial Intelligence, we are nurturing a generation that will safeguard rights, strengthen justice, and uphold the values of an informed and equitable society,” she said.
Nitin Narang, Director of Future Shift Labs, described YASHODA AI as more than a program, calling it a national mission aimed at building digital capacity and ethical awareness among India’s youth. “By combining AI knowledge with principles of responsibility and safety, we aim to empower students to become leaders who can shape an inclusive digital future,” he added.
The workshop marked a significant step in sensitizing future social workers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to the transformative role of AI in society and the justice system. It explored how AI is revolutionizing learning, communication, and employment while also presenting challenges such as misinformation, cybercrime, and online safety.
Bringing together students from across the university, the session offered an opportunity to understand both the potential and the risks of AI, including online harassment and the spread of misinformation, highlighting the importance of responsible technology use.
The program focused on four core themes: AI in Education and Careers, Cyber Law & Women’s Safety, Ethics of AI, and Practical Exposure. Students received hands-on training with tools such as ChatGPT, Cyber Dost, the NCW Women Safety App, and other emerging digital platforms.
Unlike traditional lectures, the workshop emphasized interactive participation, featuring live demonstrations, scenario-based discussions, and real-world case analyses to illustrate AI’s impact on everyday life.
This event marked YASHODA AI’s first program in Jammu, extending its mission to promote digital literacy and cyber safety among students and communities nationwide. The initiative is part of NCW’s flagship campaign to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the digital age safely and responsibly.
