New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday hailed the NDA’s sweeping victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, calling it a mandate that has introduced a new “MY — Mahila and Youth” formula, replacing what he termed the “communal MY formula of the jungle raj people.”
Speaking to BJP workers and supporters at the party headquarters, Modi said Bihar — the land that gave India the pride of being the “mother of democracy” — has once again ensured that those attacking democratic institutions “bite the dust.”
“Bihar has shown once again that lies are defeated and people’s trust prevails,” he said, adding that the mandate has further strengthened public confidence in the Election Commission.
Modi praised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership and congratulated NDA allies for the resounding win. “With this massive victory and their unwavering faith, the people of Bihar have taken the state by storm,” he said.
In a pointed reference to the RJD’s traditional Muslim-Yadav support base, Modi said earlier some parties relied on an “MY formula,” but the latest verdict has ushered in a new, positive “MY — Mahila and Youth” model. The aspirations of Bihar’s young population, he said, have “destroyed the communal MY formula of the jungle raj people.”
He added that the election results also reflect the seriousness with which young voters view the purification and revision of electoral rolls.
Modi commended the Election Commission for conducting peaceful elections and contrasted this with the violence he said was common during the “jungle raj,” referring to past RJD governments.
His remarks come amid Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of “vote theft” in state polls and claims that the Election Commission colluded with the BJP to secure its victory.
