New Delhi: Chhattisgarh will host the All India DGP-IGP Conference for the first time next month, where key issues such as internal security, ongoing anti-Naxal operations, and cyber security will be discussed.
The 60th edition of the three-day conference, starting on November 28, will be inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while the valedictory session is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Around 250 officers holding the rank of DGP and IGP will attend the conference in person, with over 200 others joining virtually. This year, special focus will be on Naxal-affected regions. Officials noted that joint operations by Chhattisgarh police and central forces in Bastar have achieved significant success in recent months. The conference aims to build on these gains and formulate new strategies.
The Union Home Minister has already set a target of March 31, 2026, for the complete elimination of the Naxal threat nationwide. Other key topics on the agenda include narcotics eradication, the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, and border management.
Since 2014, the Prime Minister has shown keen interest in the DGP conference. Free-flowing thematic discussions during breakfast, lunch, and dinner are also planned, providing senior police officials an opportunity to share insights and recommendations on policing and internal security directly with the Prime Minister.
Until 2013, the annual meeting was held in New Delhi. Following the Modi government’s decision, the conference has since been hosted outside the national capital: Guwahati (2014), Dhordo in the Rann of Kutch (2015), National Police Academy, Hyderabad (2016), BSF Academy, Tekanpur (2017), Kevadiya (2018), IISER Pune (2019), Police Headquarters, Lucknow (2021), National Agricultural Science Complex, Pusa, Delhi (2023), Jaipur (January 2024), and Bhubaneswar (November 2024).
The Prime Minister is also expected to visit Chhattisgarh on November 1 to participate in the State Foundation Day celebrations.
