Poonch, 20 December 2025:
In a significant move to curb illegal activities, District Police Poonch intercepted two Tata mobile vehicles near Draba during a night-time naka/checking operation early today.
On thorough inspection, the vehicles were found carrying 13 bovines without any valid permissions or legal documentation, a clear violation of the law. Acting swiftly, the police seized both vehicles and ensured the safe rescue and welfare of all the animals in accordance with established procedures.
Following the operation, two separate cases—FIR No. 296/2025 and FIR No. 297/2025—have been registered under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Surankote.
Further investigation is ongoing to identify all individuals involved and determine the source and intended destination of the illegally transported bovines.
