JAMMU: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday issued separate notifications announcing the start of the nomination process for the Budgam and Nagrota assembly constituencies.
As per the notifications, candidates can submit their nomination papers until October 20 for the 27-Budgam and 77-Nagrota seats. The scrutiny of nominations will be conducted on October 22, while the last date for withdrawal of candidature is October 24.
Polling for both constituencies is scheduled for November 11, and the counting of votes will take place on November 14.
The Budgam seat fell vacant on October 21, 2024, after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah opted to retain the Ganderbal constituency, having won from both seats in the 2024 Assembly elections. The Nagrota seat became vacant following the demise of BJP MLA Devinder Singh Rana on October 31, 2024.
