Mumbai: Renowned singers Sonu Nigam and Shaan are all set to perform live for a special Janmashtami event on OTT.
Excited about the performance, Sonu Nigam shared fond memories of the Hindu festival in a press note.
“Janmashtami has always been a pious and prayerful occasion in our home. I cherish my childhood memories from both Mumbai and Delhi, each with its own unique way of celebrating the festival. My son, now a big boy, loved dressing up as Krishna when he was a toddler. My sisters playfully call me the Krishna of our house and wish me a happy birthday every year. Interestingly, my father was also born on Janmashtami, so we celebrate his birthday too,” he recalled.
The event, titled ‘Janmashtami LIVE: The World Celebrates Krishna’, will be streamed on JioHotstar.
Shaan also expressed his excitement about performing on this auspicious occasion.
“The personality of Lord Krishna has always fascinated me more than any other deity. Every chapter of his life—from the playful child to the supreme Guru—shows how he wielded power subtly, never succumbing to adharma or wrongdoing. He was a wise and charming leader, always a team player. As a kid, I was fascinated by Dahi Handi but never got to participate. Years ago, I finally joined a Janmashtami celebration, and that day I realized that devotion can dance and music can smile. Even today, when I sing for Krishna, it’s the same boy in me, just on a bigger stage,” he shared.
This year, Janmashtami will be celebrated on August 16.
