Rewa (Madhya Pradesh): Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday said that Operation Sindoor was carried out with a blend of strong principles and advanced technology, ensuring that India did not target civilians or military installations in Pakistan.
Speaking to reporters in Rewa, Gen Dwivedi emphasized that India’s strikes were aimed solely at dismantling terrorist infrastructure across the border.
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan-controlled areas. The action led to four days of intense exchanges, which concluded with a mutual understanding to halt operations on May 10.
“Operation Sindoor succeeded because we combined our moral principles with technological prowess. We ensured that no innocent Pakistani civilians were harmed — our focus was only on terrorists and their handlers,” the Army Chief said.
He urged citizens to contribute actively to nation-building efforts to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Addressing students at his alma mater, Rewa Sainik School, Gen Dwivedi highlighted that Indian forces exercised utmost restraint during the operation. “We avoided any action during prayers or namaz and targeted only locations housing terrorists. We did not strike at civilians or defence establishments. Our mission succeeded and sent a clear message to Pakistan — we are not like them,” he said.
