PM Modi: Operation Sindoor, Fight Against Naxalism Added Colour to Festive Spirit

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended greetings on the occasion of Chhath Puja, saying that this year’s festive celebrations have become more vibrant due to the success of Operation Sindoor and efforts to eradicate the Maoist menace.

In the 127th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister described Chhath Puja as a festival that embodies devotion, affection, and tradition, reflecting India’s deep social harmony.

“The Mahaparva of Chhath is a symbol of the unity between culture, nature, and society. Every section of society gathers at the Chhath ghats — this sight beautifully represents India’s social unity,” Modi said.

He urged people, both in India and abroad, to participate in the festival whenever possible.

Recalling his earlier letter to citizens during the festive season, Modi said the country’s recent achievements have infused new energy into celebrations.

“‘Operation Sindoor’ has filled every Indian with pride. This year, lamps of joy were lit even in areas once shrouded in the darkness of Maoist terror,” he said, adding that citizens now aspire for the complete eradication of Maoist violence that had long threatened the future of their children.

The Prime Minister also paid tribute to tribal leader Komaram Bheem, lauding his courage in resisting the Nizam of Hyderabad’s oppression.

“In those times, even speaking against the Nizam was a crime. Yet Komaram Bheem openly confronted Siddiqui, an officer sent to seize farmers’ crops, and in that struggle, he killed Siddiqui,” Modi said.

He noted that Bheem managed to evade capture and escape to Assam, leaving behind a legacy of courage and resistance.

“Komaram Bheem may not have lived long, but he left an indelible mark on the hearts of countless people, especially within the tribal community,” Modi said.

Highlighting the upcoming Janajateeya Gaurav Diwas on November 15 — the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda — the Prime Minister urged people to learn about the many unsung heroes of India’s tribal heritage.

“Just like Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Komaram Bheem, our tribal communities have given us many great luminaries. I encourage everyone to read about them,” he added.
