Poonch:The Indian Army organized an awareness lecture on various government welfare schemes for the residents of border villages in Jammu & Kashmir, as part of its ongoing efforts to empower and uplift the local population.
The community of Khanetar, which primarily comprises individuals living below the poverty line, often remains unaware of the numerous benefits and provisions extended by the government. To address this gap and help integrate them with the national mainstream, the Army conducted a dedicated lecture in collaboration with local panchayat members. During the session, the locals were educated about several key welfare schemes such as vaccination programs, the Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programme, Ayushman Bharat, the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan, Atal Pension Yojana, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan dhan Yojana, the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and various scholarship schemes.
The lecture witnessed participation from community representatives who are in a position to bring positive reforms and improve the standard of living in their area. The initiative was well-received by the people and is expected to play a significant role in raising awareness and enabling access to government welfare schemes among the marginalized sections of society.
