Pahalgam recorded the coldest night of the season as temperatures dropped to minus 2.8°C, marking a sharp dip in mercury across Kashmir, weather officials said on Tuesday.
The popular tourist destination experienced intense cold conditions overnight, with frost forming on rooftops and vehicles early in the morning. Locals reported that the chill had increased significantly over the past few days.
Meanwhile, Srinagar also witnessed a drop in temperature, settling below the freezing point, while other parts of the Valley continued to experience dry and cold weather. Meteorological officials said the fall in temperature is expected to continue as dry weather persists.
The MeT department has predicted further decline in night temperatures in the coming days, especially in higher reaches, but ruled out any major snowfall activity for now. Residents have been advised to take necessary precautions to cope with the ongoing cold wave.
