Colombo: Pakistan batter Sidra Amin has been reprimanded for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 match against India in Colombo.
According to the ICC, the right-handed batter violated Article 2.2 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which covers “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”
The incident took place in the 40th over of Pakistan’s chase, when Sidra struck the pitch forcefully with her bat after being dismissed. Along with the reprimand, she received one demerit point on her disciplinary record. This marks her first offence within a 24-month period.
Level 1 breaches carry penalties ranging from an official reprimand to a maximum of 50% of a player’s match fee, along with one or two demerit points.
The charges were filed by on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Nimali Perera, third umpire Kerrin Klaaste, and fourth umpire Kim Cotton. Sidra admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Shandre Fritz of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, avoiding the need for a formal hearing.
Despite the incident, Sidra was Pakistan’s top scorer, contributing a valiant 81 runs off 106 balls in an 88-run loss.
Pakistan will next face Australia on October 8 in Colombo at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
