Jammu, Nov 30:The Jammu Railway Division has launched a special awareness campaign titled ‘Samvad’ inside trains to promote waste management and cleanliness among passengers.

Officials said the initiative is part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and aims to sensitise travellers about responsible disposal of waste, discouraging littering in coaches and railway premises. Railway staff interacted directly with passengers, explaining the importance of maintaining hygiene during journeys.

Teams distributed pamphlets and made announcements highlighting the need to segregate waste, use designated bins, and support eco-friendly practices. Passengers were urged to cooperate with railway authorities in keeping trains and stations clean.

Senior officers of the Jammu Division stated that the ‘Samvad’ programme will continue across multiple trains and stations, ensuring wider outreach. They emphasised that community participation is vital to achieving sustainable waste management goals.

The initiative reflects Indian Railways’ commitment to environmental responsibility and passenger welfare, reinforcing the message that cleanliness is a shared duty.
