Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday announced an increase in the number of domestic contracts, expanding the pool from 131 to 157 players for the 2025–26 season.
The board has also introduced a new category to its contract structure, bringing the total to four. According to a PCB official, 30 players have been placed in Category A, 55 in Category B, 51 in Category C, and 21 in Category D.
“These contracts have been awarded based on players’ performances in the previous domestic season,” the official said.
While the PCB has not revealed the new pay scales, last season’s monthly retainers stood at PKR 550,000 for Category A, PKR 400,000 for Category B, and PKR 250,000 for Category C.
In addition to the retainers, players received match fees of PKR 200,000 for a four-day first-class game, PKR 125,000 for a List A match, and PKR 100,000 for a T20 fixture.
The PCB continues to subsidize most inter-regional competitions but levies substantial participation fees on departmental teams competing in domestic tournaments.
