Budgam: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday asserted that the alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) remains intact.

Addressing a public gathering in Budgam, Abdullah spoke on issues related to electricity consumption and billing, emphasizing that usage should be calculated only in areas where meters are installed.

“If a meter is unnecessary, it should not be installed, and bills should reflect actual consumption,” he said. “We have promised 200 free units of electricity, and God willing, we will fulfill that commitment. But to avail of this benefit, do not be deceived by the PDP’s political gimmicks.”

Abdullah accused the PDP of misleading the public, saying its leaders had installed meters in government offices without ensuring similar relief for ordinary citizens. He added that his administration was committed to supporting the most economically disadvantaged sections of society.

“The PDP has betrayed people, ignored its past mistakes, and even arrested innocent individuals while maintaining ties with the BJP,” he alleged. “In contrast, the National Conference government has always prioritized public welfare.”

Urging voters to focus on development, youth employment, and fair electricity billing, Abdullah said that the people’s decision in the upcoming polls would shape governance for the next four years.

He appealed to the public to extend their support to JKNC candidate Aga Mehmood in the Budgam by-election scheduled for November 11, recalling past elections where voters had elected him and expressing hope for continued trust in the party.
