SRINAGAR: The women’s wing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) staged a protest in Srinagar against the proposed hike in power tariffs. Party activists gathered to voice their opposition, stating that the increase would place an additional burden on households already facing economic challenges.
Led by senior members of the PDP women’s wing, the protestors raised slogans demanding withdrawal of the proposal and urged the government to reconsider the decision in the interest of common consumers. They highlighted that rising costs of essential services are adversely affecting families, particularly those from low-income groups.
The PDP leaders emphasised that electricity is a basic necessity and should remain affordable for all sections of society. They warned that the proposed hike could lead to widespread discontent and called for immediate intervention by the administration to protect the interests of the public.
The demonstration concluded with a pledge to continue peaceful protests until the government addresses the concerns raised by the party and the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
