The Public Health Engineering Department has said it is fully prepared to manage the impact of the ongoing dry spell on drinking water supply across Jammu and Kashmir. Chief Engineer PHE stated that teams on the ground have been instructed to closely monitor sources and ensure uninterrupted supply to all affected areas.

He said the department has already activated contingency plans, including the deployment of additional tankers, rationalisation of supply schedules, and intensified field inspections to track any emerging shortages. Officials have also been directed to maintain regular communication with district administrations to address local requirements promptly.

The Chief Engineer noted that the prolonged dry spell has led to a decline in discharge levels at several water sources, but assured that alternative arrangements are being put in place wherever needed. He added that restoration teams are on standby to respond to any disruptions.

The department has urged the public to use water judiciously during this period and cooperate with field staff working to maintain supply. Officials said the situation is being reviewed daily and further measures will be taken as required.
