Jammu: The pilgrimage to the Mata Vaishno Devi cave shrine in Reasi district remained suspended for the 11th straight day on Friday.

The yatra was halted on August 26 after a massive landslide in the Trikuta hills near Adhkuwari killed 34 pilgrims and injured 20 others. Despite clear skies and improved weather following days of heavy rain, flash floods, and landslides, authorities have yet to announce when the pilgrimage will resume.

“Yatra is still suspended. The decision was taken last week keeping pilgrim safety in mind,” an official said, adding that restoration of the damaged track and nearby commercial structures is underway. The resumption will be considered only after a thorough assessment.

This marks the longest suspension of the pilgrimage since the COVID-19 restrictions. Meanwhile, local train services between Jammu and Katra, which were introduced to assist locals and stranded passengers, also remain halted.
