Piyush Goyal urges CEOs and industry leaders in Berlin to be part of India’s growth journey

New Delhi: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held a series of meetings with top global CEOs and industry leaders during his visit to Berlin, focusing on expanding cooperation in automotive, semiconductor, renewable energy, and infrastructure sectors.

The visit aims to strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties between India and Germany.

Goyal met Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Group, for discussions on the company’s operations and expansion plans in India. “We spoke about fostering innovation and promoting sustainable growth in India’s automotive industry,” Goyal wrote on X.

In his meeting with Jochen Hanebeck, CEO of Infineon Technologies AG, the minister explored opportunities for collaboration in semiconductors and decarbonisation initiatives.

Talks with Michael Masur, CEO of RENK GmbH’s Vehicle Mobility Solutions Division, focused on investment prospects in India’s defence sector and partnerships in engineering solutions, digitisation, and intelligence.

Goyal also met Tobias Bischof-Niemz, Management Board Member of ENERTRAG, to discuss cooperation in clean energy and advancing India’s progress toward its sustainable development goals.

During his interaction with Dr. Martin Herrenknecht, Founder and CEO of Herrenknecht AG, Goyal reviewed the company’s plans to expand its presence in India’s infrastructure sector through local operations and technology partnerships.

He also met Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Cooperation of Luxembourg, to explore new avenues for enhancing India–Luxembourg trade relations.

In another meeting with Klaus Rosenfeld, CEO of Schaeffler AG, discussions centered on collaboration in automotive, AI, and advanced manufacturing, with Goyal highlighting India’s growing opportunities and the strengthening India–Germany partnership in innovation and industry.
