New Delhi: On India’s 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned of a premeditated attempt to alter the country’s demography through illegal infiltration, asserting that no nation can tolerate intruders. He announced the launch of a high-powered demographic mission to address the issue.
Speaking from the Red Fort, Modi emphasized the sacrifices of India’s forefathers in securing freedom and underscored that citizens have a responsibility to resist such threats.
“I want to alert the nation to a growing concern that is emerging as a crisis. There is a deliberate effort to change the country’s demography, sowing the seeds of a new challenge,” he said.
Modi described the infiltrators as a threat to India’s youth, women, and tribal communities, saying, “These intruders are taking away the livelihood of our youth, targeting our daughters and sisters, and deceiving innocent tribals to capture their forest lands. This will not be tolerated.”
He announced a decisive response: “From the ramparts of the Red Fort, I want to declare that we are initiating a high-powered demographic mission. This mission will tackle the crisis and address the looming demographic challenge within a set timeframe. We are moving forward with determination.”
The Prime Minister warned that demographic changes, especially in border areas, pose serious risks to national security, unity, and social harmony. “No nation in the world can allow intruders to dominate, so how can we hand over Bharat to them?” he asked.
He concluded by paying homage to India’s freedom fighters, stating, “Our forefathers secured independence through supreme sacrifice. It is our duty to ensure that such activities are never accepted. This is the truest tribute we can offer them.”
