NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday welcomed the release of all 20 remaining hostages who returned to Israel, expressing India’s support for US President Donald Trump’s “sincere efforts” to bring lasting peace to the region.
Hamas freed the hostages after more than two years in captivity as part of the first phase of President Trump’s Gaza peace initiative.
“We welcome the release of all hostages after over two years of captivity,” Modi said on X.
“Their freedom is a tribute to the courage of their families, the steadfast peace efforts of President Trump, and the strong resolve of Prime Minister Netanyahu,” he added.
“India fully supports President Trump’s sincere efforts to promote peace in the region,” Modi said.
