PM Modi to Lead 150th Anniversary Celebrations of Sardar Patel in Gujarat
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to Gujarat from Thursday to lead the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Kevadiya.
On Thursday evening, the Prime Minister will arrive in Ekta Nagar, Kevadia, to flag off E-buses and inaugurate as well as lay the foundation stone for multiple infrastructure and development projects worth over ₹1,140 crore.
On Friday, PM Modi will offer floral tributes at the Statue of Unity, followed by the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations commemorating Patel’s 150th birth anniversary. He will also interact with Officer Trainees of the 100th Common Foundation Course during the Aarambh 7.0 programme.
According to an official statement, the new projects in Ekta Nagar are aimed at enhancing tourism, improving accessibility, and promoting sustainability in the region. With an investment exceeding ₹1,140 crore, these initiatives reflect the government’s vision to boost eco-tourism, green mobility, smart infrastructure, and tribal development around the world’s tallest statue.
Among the key projects to be inaugurated are the Birsa Munda Tribal University in Rajpipla, Hospitality District (Phase 1) at Garudeshwar, Vaman Vriksha Vatika, Satpuda Protection Wall, E-Bus Charging Depot and 25 electric buses, Narmada Ghat Extension, Kaushalya Path, Walkway from Ekta Dwar to Shreshtha Bharat Bhavan (Phase 2), Smart Bus Stops (Phase 2), Dam Replica Fountain, and GSEC Quarters.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for several upcoming projects, including the Museum of Royal Kingdoms of India, Veer Balak Udyan, Sports Complex, Rain Forest Project, Jetty Development near Shoolpaneshwar Ghat, and Travelators at the Statue of Unity.
To mark the historic occasion, PM Modi will release a commemorative ₹150 coin and a special postal stamp dedicated to Sardar Patel.
The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Parade on Friday will feature contingents from BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, and various state police forces. Notably, a BSF marching contingent with Indian dog breeds like Rampur Hounds and Mudhol Hounds, Gujarat Police’s Horse Contingent, Assam Police’s Motorcycle Daredevils, and the BSF Camel Contingent and Camel Mounted Band will be among the highlights.
The event will also honour five Shaurya Chakra awardees from the CRPF and 16 gallantry medal winners from the BSF for their courage in anti-Naxal and counter-terror operations in Jharkhand and Jammu & Kashmir. BSF personnel who participated in Operation Sindoor will also be felicitated.
This year’s parade will include 10 tableaux from NSG, NDRF, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Manipur, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, and Puducherry, showcasing the theme “Unity in Diversity.” A cultural programme featuring 900 artists will present classical dance forms representing India’s vibrant heritage.
The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2025 celebrations hold special importance as the nation commemorates Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary.
Meanwhile, the seventh edition of Aarambh, themed “Reimagining Governance,” will see participation from 660 officer trainees representing 16 Indian civil services and three civil services of Bhutan.
