PM Modi Welcomes Agreement on First Phase of Trump’s West Asia Peace Plan
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday welcomed the agreement on the first phase of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan for West Asia, which includes a pause in fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
Modi said the development also reflects the strong leadership of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“We welcome the agreement on the first phase of President Trump’s peace plan. This is also a reflection of the strong leadership of PM Netanyahu,” Modi said in a post on X.
Expressing hope for peace in the region, the Prime Minister added, “We hope the release of hostages and enhanced humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza will bring relief and pave the way for lasting peace.”
The agreement, brokered by the Trump administration, includes a temporary halt to hostilities and the release of some hostages and prisoners — marking the most significant breakthrough in months in the devastating two-year-old conflict.
