NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday marked the start of his 25th year in government, emphasizing that enhancing the lives of citizens and contributing to the nation’s development have remained his constant focus.
In a post on X, he recalled taking oath as Gujarat’s chief minister for the first time on this day in 2001.
“Thanks to the continuous blessings of my fellow Indians, I am entering my 25th year of serving as the head of a Government. My gratitude to the people of India,” Modi wrote.
He added, “Throughout these years, it has been my constant endeavour to improve the lives of our people and contribute to the progress of this great nation that has nurtured us all.”
After leading the BJP to three consecutive assembly victories in Gujarat, Modi has also guided the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance to win three successive national elections.
An incumbent who has never faced electoral defeat, Modi holds the record as the longest-serving head of government in India, including over 12-and-a-half years as chief minister.
