New Delhi, Dec 03: Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered Dr Rajendra Prasad, India’s first President, on his birth anniversary, describing him as a leader who served the nation with unmatched dignity, dedication, and clarity of purpose. Modi highlighted Dr Prasad’s contributions as an active participant in the freedom struggle, his role as President of the Constituent Assembly, and his tenure as the country’s first head of state.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said: “Tributes to Dr Rajendra Prasad Ji on his birth anniversary. From being an active participant in India’s freedom struggle, presiding over the Constituent Assembly to becoming our first President, he served our nation with unmatched dignity, dedication and clarity of purpose. His long years in public life were marked by simplicity, courage and devotion to national unity. His exemplary service and vision continue to inspire generations.”

Born on December 3, 1884, in Jiradei, Bihar, Dr Rajendra Prasad was a stalwart of Indian politics and a guiding force during the formative years of the Republic. He served as President of India from January 26, 1950, to May 13, 1962, and is remembered for his humility, simplicity, and commitment to national unity.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized that Dr Prasad’s legacy continues to inspire generations, noting his vision for democracy, unity, and service to the nation. The tribute reflects the government’s recognition of his enduring contributions to India’s constitutional and political framework.
