New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday renewed his call to strengthen the Make in India initiative across key sectors — including mobile phones, semiconductors, and electronics — asserting that India is offering unparalleled investment opportunities as the government accelerates its reform agenda.

Speaking at the inauguration of the India Mobile Congress, Modi highlighted how India’s democratic framework, pro-business policies, and commitment to ease of doing business have transformed the country into a global investment hub.

“This is the best time to invest, innovate, and make in India,” he declared.

The Prime Minister recalled his Independence Day address, where he had pledged that this year would mark “big changes and big reforms.” Without going into specifics, he said the pace of reforms is being intensified.

Citing recent measures, Modi noted that GST rate rationalisation last month made several everyday items — from shampoos to television sets — more affordable.

Emphasising India’s growing potential in semiconductor, mobile, and electronics manufacturing, he urged industries, innovators, and startups to seize the moment and contribute to the country’s technological progress.

Highlighting India’s digital revolution over the past decade, Modi said that 1 GB of mobile data now costs less than a cup of tea, symbolising the nation’s remarkable progress in digital accessibility.

“Digital connectivity in India is no longer a privilege or luxury. It has become an integral part of every Indian’s life,” he said, noting that India now boasts the world’s fastest-growing developer community.

Modi underlined that India today has the second-largest telecom and 5G market globally, backed by skilled manpower, strong mobility, and an innovative mindset.

He also lauded India’s indigenous 4G technology stack, calling it a significant milestone that places the nation among only five countries worldwide with such advanced capabilities.

“The country that once struggled with 2G now has 5G connectivity reaching almost every district,” the Prime Minister concluded.
