PM Modi: Bihar’s ‘Jungle Raj’ Will Be Remembered for 100 Years, Says People Won’t Forgive Opposition’s Misdeeds

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that Bihar’s “jungle raj” will be remembered for another 100 years and that no matter how hard the opposition tries to conceal its misdeeds, the people will not forgive it.

Taking a sharp dig at the RJD-Congress alliance—on the day Tejashwi Yadav was declared the Grand Alliance’s chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Bihar polls—Modi described the opposition front as not a “gathbandhan” (alliance) but a “lathbandhan” (a coalition of criminals), alleging that several of its leaders from Delhi and Bihar are out on bail.

Addressing BJP workers during the “Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot: Yuva Samvaad” programme via audio-conference, the Prime Minister urged party members to remind the younger generation of the atrocities during the RJD regime.

“I urge all youngsters in Bihar to gather at every booth and invite elderly people to share stories from the days of jungle raj,” Modi said, adding that the people of Bihar will never forget those times.

Interacting with a party worker, the Prime Minister said a “mahayagya” of development is underway in the country, powered by the stability of the NDA governments at the Centre and in Bihar.

“In Bihar, work is progressing in every direction—new hospitals, better schools, new railway routes. This has been possible because of a stable government. When there is stability, development gains momentum. This is the strength of Bihar’s NDA government,” Modi stated.

He added that the state’s youth are brimming with confidence, saying, “Raftaar pakad chuka Bihar, phir se NDA sarkar.”

Calling the Bihar Assembly elections a chance to write a new chapter in the state’s history, Modi said young voters would play a decisive role in shaping its future.

Bihar will vote in two phases on November 6 and 11, with counting scheduled for November 14. The INDIA bloc on Thursday (October 23) named RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate.
