New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday thanked voters in Jammu & Kashmir and Odisha for delivering victories to BJP candidates in the assembly bypolls.
In a post on X, Modi said, “I thank the people of Nagrota in Jammu and Kashmir and Nuapada in Odisha for blessing the BJP with spectacular victories in the bypolls.” He also congratulated newly elected MLAs Devyani Rana and Jay Dholakia, wishing them success in serving the people, and appreciated BJP workers for their dedicated efforts.
Devyani Rana won the Nagrota seat, which went to bypoll following the death of her father and sitting MLA Devender Singh Rana. She defeated JKNPP’s Harsh Dev Singh by 24,647 votes, while NC candidate Shamim Begum lost her deposit with 10,872 votes.
In Odisha’s Nuapada constituency, BJP’s Jay Dholakia secured a massive win over Congress candidate Ghasi Ram Majhi by 83,748 votes. The bypoll was held after the death of his father, former BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia.
