New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated two major National Highway projects in the capital — the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II).

Developed under the government’s comprehensive plan to decongest Delhi, both projects aim to enhance connectivity, reduce travel time, and ease traffic in the city and its adjoining areas. They reflect the Prime Minister’s vision of building world-class infrastructure to improve ease of living and ensure smooth mobility.

The 10.1 km Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway, built at a cost of around ₹5,360 crore, will provide multi-modal connectivity to Yashobhoomi, DMRC’s Blue and Orange Lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka Cluster Bus Depot.

  • Package I: 5.9 km from Shiv Murti intersection to the Road Under Bridge (RUB) at Dwarka Sector-21.
  • Package II: 4.2 km from Dwarka Sector-21 RUB to the Delhi-Haryana border, linking directly to UER-II.

The Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway (19 km) had earlier been inaugurated by PM Modi in March 2024.

The Prime Minister also opened the Alipur–Dichaon Kalan stretch of UER-II, along with new spurs to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, constructed at a cost of about ₹5,580 crore. This corridor is expected to ease congestion on Delhi’s Inner and Outer Ring Roads, as well as at major choke points like Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-09. The new links will provide direct access to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, boost industrial connectivity, cut city traffic, and speed up goods movement across NCR.

Hundreds of supporters welcomed PM Modi at the Mundka-Bakkarwala Village Toll Plaza during the inauguration ceremony. Prior to the event, he also interacted with construction workers involved in the two projects.
