PATNA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a sharp attack on the RJD, asserting that women in Bihar endured immense hardships under its rule. He urged them to ensure that the Lalu Prasad-led party and its allies never regain power in the state.

Addressing Bihar’s women virtually from Delhi, Modi inaugurated the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, under which 75 lakh women across the state received ₹10,000 each to support livelihood activities.

“Women in Bihar suffered greatly under the RJD… roads were in poor condition, law and order was weak… but today, under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, women feel safe as the rule of law prevails. They must ensure that RJD and its allies do not return to power,” Modi said.

Highlighting the NDA government’s efforts toward women’s empowerment, he added that Bihar would soon have the highest number of ‘Lakhpati Didis’ in the country. Beneficiaries of the scheme will also receive an additional ₹2 lakh and training to enhance their entrepreneurial skills.

“Women of Bihar now have two brothers, Nitish and Modi, working tirelessly for their welfare,” the Prime Minister said.

He further noted that initiatives such as Ujjwala Yojana, free ration for 8.5 crore residents, and Ayushman Bharat have significantly improved the lives of people in the state.

The scheme’s launch ahead of the assembly elections is particularly noteworthy, as women constitute a substantial portion of the electorate. Bihar is set to go to polls later this year.
