POONCH: The District Administration and District Police Poonch today observed Police Commemoration Day 2025 at the Parade Ground, District Police Lines (DPL) Poonch, with deep respect and solemnity to honour the supreme sacrifices of brave police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson Tazim Akhtar, Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shafket Hussain Bhat, along with other officers, police personnel, and family members of the martyrs.
During the event, heartfelt tributes were paid to the valiant martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation. A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Martyrs’ Memorial, followed by the reading of names of those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the past year.
The DDC Chairperson, Deputy Commissioner, and SSP Poonch offered floral tributes and garlanded the memorial to pay homage to the departed heroes.
In his address, Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma highlighted the unparalleled courage and dedication of police personnel who embraced martyrdom while protecting the nation and ensuring public safety. He lauded their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and harmony in society.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Shafket Hussain Bhat commended the selfless devotion and bravery of police personnel who continue to uphold law and order, often at great personal risk. He reaffirmed the department’s unwavering resolve to support the families of the martyrs and to preserve their legacy of valour and sacrifice for generations to come.
The event concluded with an emotional interaction with the families of the martyrs, reaffirming the police department’s enduring bond, deep gratitude, and continued commitment to their welfare.
