Srinagar: Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have solved the murder of a 14-year-old girl, whose body was recovered from Sehpora on Sunday. Investigations have revealed that her elder sister is the prime accused.
Officials said the body was found in fields near Batsar Road, just 300 meters from the girl’s home. Initial suspicion pointed to unidentified men in a car, but forensic evidence and technical inputs led investigators to her sister.
Police said the accused confessed to fatally striking the victim with a stick after an argument. She was arrested once her role was confirmed during questioning and forensic corroboration.
According to officials, the accused initially tried to mislead both family and police by claiming that unknown men attempted to abduct them.
A case under relevant sections has been registered, and the accused is in custody. Police said the motive has been established and further details will be shared as the probe continues.
What began as a shocking and mysterious incident has now taken a dramatic turn with the elder sister’s arrest. Authorities have assured that the investigation will be taken to its logical conclusion and justice will be ensured.
