Poonch: In a significant crackdown on assets acquired through online fraud, the Surankote Police have attached property worth around ₹8.5 lakh under Section 107 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
During the probe into FIR No. 71/2025, registered under Sections 319(2), 318(4), 336(3), 340(2), 3(5) of the BNS and Sections 66(C), 66(D) of the IT Act, investigators found that a Maruti Suzuki Brezza (Registration No. JK02CQ-2851) was purchased by accused Sajid Khan, son of Mohd Sadiq, resident of Drogain, Tehsil Surankote, using proceeds of crime obtained through fraudulent activities involving cheating and impersonation on Telegram and Dream11 platforms.
Following directions from the competent authority and as per legal provisions, the vehicle has been seized under Section 107 BNSS to prevent its sale, transfer, or any other form of disposal.
An official attachment notice has been placed on the vehicle, warning the public against purchasing, leasing, or creating any third-party interest in the property until further orders.
The District Police Poonch, under the supervision of SSP Shafkat Hussain (JKPS), reaffirmed its commitment to tracing, restraining, and confiscating assets acquired through illegal means in accordance with the law.
