Poonch, 11 December 2025: District Police Poonch, in coordination with the Drug Control Department, carried out an enforcement operation on Thursday following credible information about the illegal sale of restricted medicines at New Sudan Medicose, Ward No. 01, Sukha Katha.
Acting on the input, a joint team from Police Station Poonch and the Drug Inspector searched the premises, during which Pregabalin capsules, classified as a restricted drug, were recovered.
After the seizure, authorities disallowed the operation of the establishment under Section 22 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. The license of the pharmacist, Iqbal Singh, resident of Ward No. 01 Sukha Katha, was suspended, and the shop was sealed on the spot by the Drug Inspector in the presence of police personnel.
District Police Poonch said it remains committed to strict action against illegal drug trade and reiterated its focus on safeguarding public health and safety.
