A powerful explosion struck a car near Gate No. 1 of Delhi’s Red Fort (Lal Qila) Metro Station on Monday evening, leaving one person dead and several others injured. The incident caused widespread panic in the high-security area and prompted a swift response from police and emergency services.

The Delhi Fire Department reported receiving a call about the blast at approximately 6:55 pm. Seven fire tenders and 15 CAT ambulances were immediately dispatched to the scene. The fire quickly spread to three nearby vehicles, which were completely gutted before firefighters managed to bring the situation under control.

According to police sources, the explosion was so powerful that it shattered nearby streetlights. Senior officers, including the DCP of the Special Cell, arrived at the spot to oversee the investigation.

The exact cause of the explosion is still under investigation. However, the incident occurred just hours after police uncovered an interstate terror module connected to banned organizations. Authorities had earlier seized over 2,900 kilograms of suspected ammonium nitrate and an additional 2,500 kilograms of explosive-making chemicals. Officials said there had been a plot to target Delhi with multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs) made from the seized materials.

Forensic teams are currently examining the blast site, and the police have cordoned off the entire area. A high alert has been issued across the national capital as investigations continue.

This is a developing story, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
