President Droupadi Murmu has said that along with the spirit of competition, the spirit of co-operation is equally essential for strengthening the nation and society. She was addressing the valedictory ceremony of the diamond jubilee celebrations of Bharat Scouts and Guides at its 19th National Jamboree in Lucknow.
Speaking at the event, President Murmu observed that competitions inspire individuals to work harder and strengthen team spirit, but co-operation ensures inclusivity and collective progress. “During the Jamboree, several competitions are being organised. From every competition, we get to learn new things. The team spirit gets strengthened, and it also inspires us to work harder. But, along with the spirit of competition, the spirit of co-operation is a must for the strengthening of the nation and society,” she said.
The President highlighted that India stands at a crucial juncture in its development journey, with the goal of achieving a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. She urged the youth, who constitute nearly 65 per cent of the population, to harness their skills and make determined efforts towards nation-building.
Murmu praised the Bharat Scouts and Guides for guiding young people and inspiring them to become active participants in national development. She reminded the gathering of the Scouts and Guides’ motto “Be Prepared,” stressing that youth must develop the capacity to face future challenges with determination and self-confidence.
She underlined that the combination of competition and co-operation will help India achieve its aspirations, strengthen social harmony, and build a resilient nation ready to meet future challenges.
