Envoys of three countries, including Iran, on Monday formally presented their credentials to President Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, marking the beginning of their diplomatic assignments in India. The presentation of credentials is a key diplomatic tradition that signifies the official recognition of ambassadors by the host nation.

The ceremony was conducted in accordance with established protocol, with the envoys calling on the President individually and conveying greetings and messages from their respective heads of state. President Murmu welcomed the ambassadors and expressed India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with their countries across various sectors.

Among the envoys was the Ambassador of Iran, reflecting the importance India attaches to its long-standing and multifaceted ties with Tehran. India and Iran share cooperation in areas such as trade, connectivity, culture and regional issues, and the new envoy is expected to work towards further deepening engagement between the two nations.

The presentation of credentials by the envoys of the other two countries also underlined India’s expanding diplomatic outreach and its emphasis on fostering friendly relations with partners across regions. Discussions during the interactions touched upon mutual interests, people-to-people ties and avenues for future cooperation.

The ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan reaffirmed India’s role as an active and engaged partner on the global stage, with President Murmu extending her best wishes to the envoys for a successful tenure in the country.
