Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday embarked on a three-nation tour to Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman, aimed at strengthening India’s diplomatic, economic and strategic ties with key partners in the West Asia and Africa regions. The visit is expected to focus on enhancing cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, defence, connectivity and people-to-people exchanges.
The Prime Minister’s first stop is Jordan, where he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with the country’s top leadership. Discussions are likely to cover regional security, counter-terrorism cooperation, and ways to deepen economic and cultural relations. India and Jordan have traditionally shared warm ties, and the visit is expected to give fresh momentum to the partnership.
From Jordan, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Ethiopia, marking an important engagement with one of Africa’s key nations. During his stay, he is expected to meet Ethiopian leaders to review bilateral relations and explore opportunities for cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, education, health, capacity building and development partnerships. The visit underscores India’s growing engagement with Africa and its commitment to strengthening South-South cooperation.
The final leg of the tour will take the Prime Minister to Oman, a strategic partner in the Gulf region. Talks in Muscat are expected to focus on boosting trade and investment, energy security, maritime cooperation and the welfare of the large Indian expatriate community living in Oman. The two sides are also likely to discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest.
The three-nation tour reflects India’s proactive foreign policy and its efforts to deepen ties across regions critical to its economic growth and strategic interests. The visit is expected to yield tangible outcomes and further reinforce India’s role as a trusted partner on the global stage.
