JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) today organised Rashtriya Dogri Kavi Sammelan at Abhinav Theatre to commemorate celebration of 75th Republic Day.
This is for the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir that Rashtriya Dogri Kavi Sammelan is being organised by JKAACL under the directions of Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha.
The event was inaugurated by Principal Secretary, Culture, Suresh Kumar Gupta, in presence of Padamshree Mohan Singh and Secretary, JKAACL, Bharat Singh and other guests.
On the occasion, Secretary JKAACL highlighted the significant role and place of dogri language in art and culture of the region. He added that we should feel honoured to speak Dogri language in our homes as a token of love and respect for our mother tongue. In this regard, he emphasised the role of women in guiding their children towards embracing their own dialect and speak Dogri.
The Sammelan witnessed participation of renowned poets like Professor Lalit Magotra, Padamshree Jitender Udhampuri, Prakash Premi, Vijay Sharma, Ashok Angurana, Vijay Verma, Naseeb Singh Manhas, Susheel Begana, Vijaya Thakur, Bishan Singh Dardi, Brij Mohan, Promila Manhas, Randhir Singh Raipuria, Narinder Singh Chib, Abdul Qadir Kundriyan, Pawan Verma, Yash Paul Yash, Kuldeep Kippi, Ranbir Singh Chib and Sahil Badyal.
Principal Secretary stated that the main motive for organising this event was to boost and promote the Dogri language. He added that this Rashtriya Dogri Kavi Sammelan will be a regular feature in the coming years.
Many renowned artists and people, especially the youth in large number were present on the occasion.
Reeta Khadyal presented the vote of thanks while Amar Chouhan conducted proceedings of the event.
