Jammu: The principal and three staff members of a government higher secondary school in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district were suspended on Saturday following allegations of sexual abuse, misconduct, and inappropriate behaviour, officials said.
Residents and local representatives from Ghambir Mughlan had submitted a written complaint to the Rajouri Deputy Commissioner outlining the accusations. Public concern intensified after CCTV footage related to the case surfaced on social media, raising serious questions about the safety and dignity of female students and staff.
Acting on the complaint and the video evidence, Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma ordered the immediate suspension of the school principal, a teacher, and two Class-IV employees. An FIR had already been lodged at the Manjakote Police Station against the accused principal and staff on November 9.
The suspended officials have been attached to the Office of the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri pending further inquiry. The CEO has been asked to conduct a detailed preliminary investigation and submit a factual report, along with recommendations, within 15 days.
Deputy Commissioner Sharma said the administration is treating the matter with utmost seriousness, assuring a fair, transparent, and unbiased inquiry. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety, dignity, and welfare of female students and staff across all educational institutions in the district.
