Los Angeles: Actor Priyanka Chopra celebrated 15-year-old Owen Cooper’s historic Emmy win with heartfelt joy.
Sharing a video on Instagram of Cooper receiving the Emmy for his remarkable performance in Adolescence, Priyanka expressed her pride and excitement through a caption filled with joyful emojis.
The young actor, who stars in the Netflix drama Adolescence, won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or TV Movie. The audience erupted in applause as Cooper took the stage to thank the cast, crew, and his parents.
“Honestly, when I started these drama classes a couple of years ago, I didn’t imagine being in the United States, let alone here. But tonight proves that if you listen, focus, and step out of your comfort zone, you can achieve anything. I was nothing three years ago, and now I’m here. Who cares if you get embarrassed? Anything is possible,” Cooper said.
With this win, he broke Michael A. Goorjian’s record, who had been the youngest winner in the category at 23 in 1994. According to Deadline, Cooper also surpassed Scott Jacoby’s record as the youngest male actor to win an Emmy in any acting category; Jacoby was 16 when he won in 1973 for The Certain Summer.
