Priyanka Chopra praises Tom Cruise and Akshay Kumar’s daring stunts in Heads of State.

Priyanka Chopra is making waves with her new OTT action film Heads of State, where she takes on an action-packed role unlike her previous work. At the film’s London premiere, she spoke candidly about her admiration for the high-risk stunts performed by Hollywood star Tom Cruise and Bollywood’s Akshay Kumar, both known for doing their own daring action sequences.

In an interview with India Today, Priyanka said, “I love what Tom Cruise and Akshay Kumar do. They’re really good at that.” Yet, she confessed, “But, I don’t think I have the courage to hang off a plane that’s taking off or doing that kind of stuff.” She spoke of the crucial role of stunt teams in bringing such scenes to life and added, “But, I do love being a part of big mega movies. We do stand on the shoulders of so many people – there’s a massive stunt team that made me do all the things that I did.”

Giving fans a peek behind the scenes, Priyanka added, “There are wires, mats and lots of it. So, it is the magic of the movies.” Both Tom Cruise and Akshay Kumar have earned fame for their breathtaking stunts—from hanging off airplanes to leaping between rooftops—winning admiration worldwide.

Interestingly, Priyanka Chopra and Akshay Kumar acted together in many movies when she was starting out. Films like Andaaz, Aitraaz, and Mujhse Shadi Karogi made them a popular pair. Their good chemistry led to rumours that they were dating. These rumours reportedly upset Akshay’s wife, Twinkle Khanna, as per director Suneel Darshan. Because of this, Priyanka and Akshay presumably stopped working together.

In an old interview with Koel Purie, Priyanka, on being asked why she stopped working with Akshay, said, “May be it makes life easier. I never want to be a bone of contention in someone’s happy life.”

Meanwhile, Heads of State, directed by Ilya Naishuller, premiered on Amazon Prime Video on July 2. Priyanka plays MI6 agent Noel Bisset, who is on a mission to dismantle a global conspiracy. The film also stars Idris Elba, John Cena, and other top actors.
