Srinagar: Police on Tuesday attached the property of designated terrorist Asif Maqbool Dar in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Dar is currently operating from across the border, officials said.

The action follows an FIR registered at Parimpora police station under relevant sections of the IPC and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

“In a significant move to dismantle terror networks and their support structures, Srinagar Police has attached orchard land measuring three kanals and 18 marlas, worth about ₹1 crore, belonging to designated terrorist Asif Maqbool Dar,” a police spokesperson said. The property is located at Bandi Payeen, Baramulla, he added.

Proceedings were initiated under Section 25 of the UAPA, which empowers authorities to seize property linked to terrorist activities. Though the land is registered in the name of Dar’s father, Mohammad Maqbool, a resident of Balding Payeen now living in Bemina’s HIG Colony, investigations have confirmed Dar’s active stake in it.

Dar has been involved in facilitating terrorism, spreading anti-India propaganda, and inciting disaffection against the government through social media for years, the spokesperson said. He has already been declared a terrorist by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The property attachment, police said, is part of a broader strategy to cripple the financial, logistical, and operational support structures of terror networks and their cross-border sponsors.
