JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday attached the immovable property of a Pakistan-based Hizbul Mujahideen handler in Poonch district, officials said.
The accused, Mohd Azam, a resident of Chapriyan village in Mandi tehsil, was wanted in several terror-related cases in Poonch before fleeing across the border, they added.
According to a police spokesperson, Azam has been actively involved in subversive activities in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the Poonch-Rajouri region. Acting on the directions of a local court, his land measuring seven marlas was attached under provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
The action stems from a case registered against him at Mandi police station in 2023. After crossing into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Azam was declared a proclaimed offender by the court. Despite sustained efforts, he has remained out of reach, leading the court to order attachment of his property.
Police said efforts are being further intensified to trace and arrest him.
